Where should Relocate Denver, Seattle, or Portsmouth?
I’m planning on relocating at the end of November and I have three places on my mind where should I go?
My requirements are a city with culture good food, music, coffee and most important yoga studios. There has to be all seasons I’m a outdoor enthuses. I enjoy Hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, and snow boarding.
I grew up in New Hampshire if your wondering were Portsmouth came from. There is a part of me that misses home the other part of doesn’t miss below zero temps.
I most recently lived in Seattle and I love it there what a beautiful city. It matches all of the requirements but I feel like I should try something new.
Denver is a place that I always thought about living. I’ve visited and it is just so gray and dry not allot of trees but on the other hand the locals clam 360 days of sun shine.
Please help me out I’m open for suggestions other places.
Working With Injuries
I am working with a new injury in my yoga practice. It’s the mid right side of my back not sure how it happened, I think it was the way that I slept on a soft bed. It bothers me when I am sitting.
When I do yoga it bothers me allot limiting my normal practice. So I will move slow so that I don’t aggravate it any more and so that it can heal. Focuing on breath bandas combined with core work.
Personal Yoga Practice
Today is a quiet day. Just waiting for the tour bus to get finished.
There are no classes at the Whittier Center on Fridays yet, so my focus will be on my personal practice. A little book that I’ve been reading named Bringing Yoga to Life by Donna Farhi has helped me a great deal with developing my personal practice.
I have found it challenging to find a good space with privacy because I’m staying in a friends house currently. Sometimes you just have to work with what you got. My bedroom has the most privacy just barely enough room.
The first thing that you want to do with your space is keep it clean, no excuses to skip your practice. Clear the floor and all distracting paraphernalia. Have all off your yoga props handy. Tell every one in the house so they now not to disrupt you. Set the mood with a candle maybe some calming music.
Take a moment to observe the bodies needs check into yourself that is what this time is for. I like to do a combination practice. Com binding Pranayama ( practice of breath), Asana (practice of movement).
There are many different methods to fallow. Some be leave a structured practice is best, focusing on something specific. Others like to mix it up and just be spontaneous in the practice.
As a beginner it can be good to start with structur
Saying good bye
I love living in Seattle. When I first set across country my goal was to find a new place to live and the requirements were mountains with good hiking, snow boarding, and biking. As well as a city that offers culture, good art and entertainment. The place that I chose also had to be affordable.
Seattle offer all of that and the last five years have been amazing. I like to keep my options open as to where I’m going to move after the tour but part of me feels like I’ll go back to Seattle.
So on the last days I treated myself to shopping at the famous Pikes Place Market. Went shopping and than made some coconut red curry soup for my bear friends Mike and Mardith.
Off on my twelve hour drive to Logan UT.
Helping the Family out
It was all such a kawinsadent. My brother Ed the first one of my family members to come to Seattle and I am scheduled to move for the Track Kayak marketing tour. So I had to stay just one week longer to help my Bro and his family out.
My brother Ed is an electrician on submerains he lives in Portsmouth NH were I am from. He is took his hole family with him because the project could take up to five months or more. He drove all the way across county by himself that took four days although he said it could have only been three. When he got here I showed him around Seattle we went out to eat at McCormick & Schmicks the restaurant that I now used to work at. Than we took the Bremerton Ferry across the Puget Sound to my Bros new temp. home in Silverdale. We had fun getting to now each other again. Covering all the important issues that New Englanders don’t normally talk about with family members. Things like politics and religion. I think the west coast has warn on me a little.
Next the family arrives. My Bro had to work so I pick the wife (Tanya) and the two kids up. Tylor a three year old with allot of energy and Cassidy nine month old almost walking so now she just can’t sit still. This was a big trip for all of them twelve hours of travel from point to point. I was so excited to see them. Everything was cool when I first picked them up at the air port.
The next four days I spent with Tanya and the kids. My Bro has a tough work week he would start at 5:30pm and end at 5:30am than sleep for about five hours and than spend a few hours with the family. This is a seven day work week too. I don’t now how he does it.
It has been a while since I spent this much time with kids. Twenty four seven with the kids. I’m used of short visits where the kids love me we play have fun than I go. But not this time after about a day the cool auntie thing wore off and than I was just another boring adult. I got to see the good the bad and the ugly. They are good kids but I’m never around kids and Tanya was the most payshant mom that I have ever seen she never yelled at the kids evan after getting only one hour of sleep, it was amazing.
At the end off my stay it was so hard too go. I loved being apart of this close family. I’m going into the last phase of my life in Seattle.
My First Traveling Yoga Mama Post
It’s a few weeks before I embark on my latest adventure. I’m very excited to demo the new portable kayak, but I’m more excited to try and review different yoga studios all over the country. If you have a yoga studio you’d live me to visit, please leave me a comment.
I’ve told a few friends about my new journey and they have asked me to review a few local yoga studios before I leave. Watch my blog for some great seattle yoga studio tips.
